JWA is actively seeking distinguished former, senior, or retired Texas judges to join our respected roster of arbitrators.
JWA’s panel is composed exclusively of former, senior, and retired Texas judges, a distinction that sets us apart from every other arbitration provider. Panelists contribute their judicial experience to a cost-effective, confidential, and professionally manages ADR process, supported by dedicated case administrators who handle all scheduling, communications, and logistics.
JWA also supports panelist through ongoing education, enhanced visibility in the arbitrator selection process, and judge profile pages, giving parties better tools to select the right arbitrator for each case.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet or exceed the following criteria:
✔ Former, senior, or retired Texas district judge
✔ Substantial civil and/or personal injury experience
✔ No disciplinary history
✔ Prior arbitration experience (preferred)

JWA Arbitrator Connect
Arbitrator Connect is JWA's dedicated platform for panel communication, continuing legal education, and shared resources. It serves as the central location where panelists access CLE materials, case law updates, roundtable discussions, and important panel communications.
🎓 Continuing Legal Education
Regular CLE programs covering the substantive and procedural topics most relevant to nonsubscriber arbitration, with multiple sessions offered each year.
🔄 Balanced Perspectives
Programs feature claimant attorneys, respondent attorneys, and JWA arbitrators, providing a well-rounded, practical approach to the cases the panel hears.
💬 Roundtable Discussions
Regular roundtable sessions bring panelists together for interactive dialogue and knowledge-sharing, fostering consistency and community across the panel.

Required Application Materials
Submit the following documents:
Resume or curriculum vitae highlighting judicial tenure, civil and personal injury experience, and any prior arbitration or ADR service.
Cover letter describing your interest in joining JWA, your relevant experience in nonsubscriber or civil litigation, and your availability to serve as an arbitrator.
Letter or recommendation from an active legal professional familiar with your work (should not be from an entity in which you are employed or on which you serve as an officer or similar position).
Disciplinary history disclosure, including any State Bar of Texas or judicial conduct commission proceedings, complaints, sanctions, or probations.
Important Notes
Panelists are independent contractors. No employment relationship is created through panel membership. All panelists are required to participate in ongoing CLE through JWA Arbitrator Connect.
